South Coast and Alps Mini Trip
Sydney to Melbourne - 8 days

This trip links Australia's two biggest cities. On this journey we drive along the beautiful New South Wales south coast, with its superb beaches and quaint villages, and up the rainforested escarpment into the southern highlands. We travel over the Snowy Mountains where we walk to the top of the country's highest mountain (not a big walk but a fabulous view!). We picnic in Snowy River country amongst the mobs of Grey Kangaroos, and explore magnificent forests of Mountain Ash Eucalyptus regnans, the world's tallest flowering plant. We meet up with the Djuwin, traditional custodians of the south coast, and hear of their experiences and their stories.

Mountain Ash forests of Victoria's Central Highlands. These magnificent eucalypts reach more than 100 metres tall.

Waterfalls flow over the rugged sandstone Great Eastern Escarpment, a region of vast wilderness and spectacular beauty.

The top of the ancient Great Dividing Range. This image was taken on first day of winter.
